I almost always employ what is called the Chelsea Knot.

I fold it in half lengthwise, wrap it around my neck so that at one end both ends of the scarf are together and at the other there is a loop, then I feed the ends through the loop and tighten it to taste. I always tuck the excess into my coat/jacket.

It depends on how cold it is for me... I do what Brigden does typically, but on a cold day I skip folding it lengthwise, so it's basically what that website link called "european casual". I've never heard that name before, but that's more or less what I do as it secures the scarf best.

I do the 'European Casual' or the 'Single Knot' (from that website). I'm not really seeing a difference between the Euro Casual or the Euro Formal except the Formal is done more precisely: am I missing something?

Bringing back this post to ask a question.

Would it look incredibly stupid to tie a scarf under a shirt and leave two buttons undone for it to show? I tried it out and it didn't really look bad. I have a houndstooth scarf and I paired it with a denim shirt and it looks pretty good. Does anyone else do this or would consider trying it?

^ What's it called when that is done with a silk square of some sort? You usually see old men pulling it off.

for those of you with this scarf, is it a square or the regular rectangle shape?

edit: actually, relooking, it looks rectangle. can you clarify?

Euro Casual or the Flip. For shorter scarves, I wear the knot.

I just started wearing a scarf this season, and mostly use the Chelsea as described by Brigden, aka the European Casual by the provided website.

I also will sometimes use the double flip if riding my motorcycle on a cold night, as the extra flaps of the scarf give a bit more frontal insulation from the cold wind.

I don't think it would look bad at all as long as it was not excessive. Are you talking about just two buttons down from the neck?
