Hong Kong Hotel During Harvest Moon/Chinese New Year

My wife was born in Hong Kong and I would like to take her there next year during one of the big festivals. For those of you who live in Hong Kong, where is a good place to stay that is a nice hotel and central to the festivities?

i dunno about being central to the festivities, i mean there's stuff goin on all over...maybe Victoria Park is where they might hold some kind of carnival.

for hotels, there's not many here I find that great...there's the Four Seasons, Langham Hotel...the latter is expensive and decent looking enough because it's fairly new but it's in the most densely populated and dirty part of town.

You don't want to be outside in Hong Kong during one of the big festivals. There are way too many people and you'd have to go early to participate. I'm thinking about time square during the countdown. It is very unpleasant even without the humidity factor.

well any place of high pop. density in HK is uncomfortable to be in...i walk fast and i hate not being able to do so because the person in front is slow as hell and unaware of my presence trying to get past them. Times Square is a very popular destination during holidays/New years and I can't stand it.

Mandarin Oriental (either regular or Landmark) in Central (island)
Peninsula (Kowloon)

Both have great locations and are nice.

I'm convinced the Mandarin Oriental (the original one) is haunted...that place gives me the creeps. Actually a bunch of buildings in that area have a funny feel to them...the MO, what was previously the Ritz Carlton, as well as Bank of America building all have a very "dead" feeling presence to them that's hard to describe but once you set foot inside you may have an idea of what i mean.
