Begin parting it now and start training your hair where to grow. To do this:
Comb it all forward
Part it properly, you "score" the hairline with the comb where you want to part it
Then part it, small side first, then the big side - all when wet.
Blow dry with a directional tip so you're only drying in the a specific area (usally V-shaped)
Dry the small side of the part right along the part, then dry the larger side of the part along the part, then finish the rest with the blow dryer.
Take an electric clipper and run it over your head just slightly above your hair to clip off all the little strands that stick up.
Put a TINY bit of a gel paste in your palm and lightly run your hands over the hair to plaster down the really little pieces the clipper can't get.
Now you look like a gentlemen.
This may not be the look you want for a college kid, but you can also do it a little more casual with the "messey" part where the hair is still parted but is blended at the part.
Also - remember to test your part on both sides of your head, see which side lets the hair lay more natural. You may need to let it grow a bit before you can determine this.
