I'll second the comments about Don Adams' wardrobe. That skinny-lapeled 1960s style is possibly the high point of mens' style for me. I find Steed's stuff more appealing than Max's, but Max was no slouch.
highlights of Don Adams era Max wardrobe:
-first 2 seasons were all represented by one button suits (some 3 piece, some 2), 2" lapels, really fitted trousers with no break or even higher
-amazing burgundy 1 button sport jacket worn with black or grey trousers on many episodes in season 1/2
-awesome blue sport jacket worn on the island where he is trapped with Harry Hoo and a bunch of kaos defectors
-later seasons had him in 3 and 4 button suits, most notable a tan 4 button with flapped breast pocket
-great leather jacket in season 4 where he is driving a truck and it gets hijacked by a kaos formula to bring back dead agents
-always worn with double cuff shirts, often times brightly colored shirting fabrics, not always white
even the chief had a great personality to his outfits, usually wearing ivy league style tweed jackets with OCBD and repp ties.
and 99 was probably the best dressed gal on tv at the time.
def no slouches to be found on this show.
