Check out scandanivian biedermier. Interesting mix that is a refreshing alternative to what is so common. There was a dealer in chelsea who had some very interesting pieces.

What an excellent item. Here is another interesting one, the RR126 stereo by Castiglioni for Brionvega:

I rather like Baltic Neoclassical.

Per Modernism, I'm rather attracted to the more Baroque, florid pieces than some of the sterile looks that appear to be more popular in the mainstream circles. Look at James Mont's work for the King Cole penthouse:

Even if you don't eat or drink on your sofa, as many people do, or have pets, or put your feet up, a sofa is naturally going to show wear before a dining room chair.

It's the skin oils that really kill light leather furniture. Think about never being able to change your bed sheets. Even if you wear pajamas, your hair and skin are going to make the sheets grubby in fairly short order.

Whilst true that skin oils rarely come into contact with dining chairs, you are more likely to spill food on them. Our chairs have had tomato sauce and various other foodstuff dropped on them, but we were always able to remove them.

Ok, any thoughts on the leather choice for the Florence Knoll sofa? Assume wear is not an issue.

I like the cream leather, I don't think it ages that badly to be honest so I wouldn't be too concerned with that unless I'd want it pristine at all times. If you're not sure what you'll end up with cream is a colour that should go with a variety of styles, especially since you like light furniture.

Versatility is a chief concern. I don't want to peg ourselves as 'light color furniture' people, though. For example, I think the blue sofa in the Playboy article above is quite striking. If we choose to vary our other furniture in color later on, do you think a cream sofa will stay relevant?

I swear I saw that deer-legged stool at a street market in Paris with YoungFogey and the barbarian a couple years ago. I almost bought it. Maybe he came along and did.

Isn't that more an issue of personal coordination and hygiene?

No worries, it fits a variety of styles. I was just saying it also goes with what you like. Maybe others will disagree but I think that sofa in cream will look gorgeous, I like iconic sofas anyway as they provide a good foundation for the more eccentric pieces.

More an issue of sometimes having children over.
That's solved with a simple rule. I don't allow children in my home. In fact, i generally avoid them at all costs....filthy little creatures.

Crap...that reminds me...I promised my 4 1/2 year-old nephew an outing to see "train stuff".
