My apologies for the morbid topic.

My ex-girlfriend has committed suicide.

She is Cuban but the funeral is likely to happen in Mexico where her next of kin lives.

I currently have a black single breasted two piece suit, white shirt (herring bone, double cuff), black patterned tie (no additional colour) and black Chelsea boots.

Would this be acceptable or are there any special considerations that I am missing?

Please let me know and sorry for disturbing you all.

I think that will be fine. You'll probably be one of the few wearing a suit. Assuming she was loved by her family and friends, you will see a lot of people showing up in polo shirts, l/s shirts and casual pants, etc. Basically, what people wear to work. I have been in funerals in Latin America and that's what I've seen.

I guess it also depends if your GF is at the upper echelon of society, but I don't have any experience there.

Sorry for your loss.

Thank you so much for this. I'll go as is in that case.

She was proud for her roots not being upper class so I think it will be ok.

Thank you so much again.

May she rest in Peace. This must be extremely difficult for you. I hope
that you are able to grieve with support from friends and family.

I lived in South America several decades ago, in Ecuador specifically.
Quito was (is) a very traditional city. Men of the upper classes wore
black or dark suits to funerals without exception, more or less.

Thank you so much for this too. Yeah the family especially are completely heartbroken and are lost for words.

Thank you I think wearing black is acceptable from the sound of it as well.
