Is Budd really considered that much better than H&K? Having owned a few H&K shirts, I really can't imagine what can be improved (save for a slightly trimmer fit, maybe).

I don't think Budd are better than H&K. It's all a matter of preference I guess. I really like H&K shirts, especially their collars and cuffs. I do wish for two things; a thicker MOP button and and a slimmer cut at the waist.

having got both, I would say that the differences are not about quality as such: H&K have thin (maybe a little too thin) MOP buttons, and are cut longer (a bit too much for my preference). Budd oxfords seem a bit more "substantial" somehow in terms of material; a touch thicker? I'm not sure.

For me, I go for what I can get in the fabric I like - I have 14.5, so the choices are often limited - so whether it's T&A, H&K or Budd (or H&H, although I think it's fair to say that these are not quite as good in terms of quality), they are all fine quality shirts.

... there's another Budd that I'm going to get hold of in a nice check!

BTW, I always take my shirts to be tailored by my local guy, who brings in the side seams a couple of inches, and shortens them a bit. He does a great job (for £5 a shirt!).

I find that all these shirts are going to be a bit too full-cut for me without alteration (even the slim-cut ones).

Not sure yet - it was something like $15, so I just paid and ran - they had a whole bunch of them, but only in this fabric. Might be good with navy.

    Different and nice.

I would wear this with jeans and a nice blazer/darker nicely waisted odd suit jacket /tweed jacket.

There were only a few sizes, I'll have a look later today - it's on my way to work.

I guess they didn't have any? If they do I'll buy one.

Ah, sorry, forgot to tell you - no, smaller sizes than 16" only, it seemed. There were only about ten of them left on Wednesday, so I expect they're gone now.

Interestingly, Fitzgerald himself was a customer of Hilditch & Key.

Shirts for my wife from Jantzen. Jantzen*2286, Jantzen*2125, Jantzen*2622, I forget which is which. Buttons are not terribly nice, but I think I requested the thin MOP for her. Considering the price, Jantzen remains a phenomenal bargain, even if you have to wait a few months. [IMG][IMG][IMG]
