To the op: That small voice in the back of your head that asked you if you thought popping the collar was really a good idea is something you should listen carefully for and try to nurture.

Please OP, think about your dignity. It's been terrified ever since you first thought that flipping the polo collar was a good idea.

Most people don't know this, however popping a collar on a polo shirt elongates the neck and it works perfectly when wearing a rugby shirt with the dress or sport shirt/tie combo.

Wait, what? I'm trying to decipher your advice here...if you have a short neck, you should wear a polo shirt with a popped collar under a rugby shirt or a sport shirt and tie? I have a long neck, what do you suggest that I wear to look less giraffe-like?

If done knowingly and blithely, it can work. It's not terribly noticeable when done well.

My brother does this. I tell him every time it makes him look like a pompous douchebag. He doesn't seem to care.

^ i agree. wearing scarfs just for the hell of it and not for the actual function is even more douchebaggy than wearing popped collars. loose big crinkly scarfs worn without a coat make me want to vomit.

I agree completely. Don't ever do this...unless its Halloween and you're going as a D-bag, tool or fraternity brother.
