Had five guys again yesterday for lunch. Here's my order:

Little Cheeseburger +:
Raw onions
Ketchup
Mustard
Pickles
Jalapenos

and some Regular Fries with Cajun seasoning on the side.

it was good.

I go for Epic Burger > 5guys.
Also agree with the in-n-out burgers > 5guys... too bad the closest in-n-out is 1000 miles away

Seriously 5guys? five trillion options for what you want on a burger but no option for a wheat bun? lame

Curious what you like about the in-n-out burger - the small meat patties, the fact that the bun has a spongy quality that you can taste more than the meat or the large leaves of lettuce that likewise overpower the taste of meat?

I'm not a fan of giant gray beef patties with 45 toppings piled on it sliding off. Therefore I find Five Guys a poor value. When I eat there I order the junior burger with mushrooms, jalapenos, sport peppers, and A1 sauce. A1 sauce is a must.

In n Out is perfect in double-double format with grilled onions. I agree that the lettuce is sometimes too large.

Put a Five guys vs. In n Out in front of me, I would go In n Out every time.

On the other hand, RAY'S HELL BURGER is the best burger I have ever had.

Ray's The Classics is three blocks from my office and five from my home. Rad art deco building, same burger, fewer available toppings, full bar with four taps. The waitstaff knew my fiancee and I by our third trip -- one caught another as he was seating us and said "hey, they prefer that seat up front in the window."

That place is fantastic. Any SFers who happen to be in 20910 should give it a try.
