Think what you will, but I ordered my first suit from Indochino. To avoid problems with fit, I went in to get measured at one of their pop up shops (which a mistake -- do it yourself if you are going to order from them). Anyhow, they got the hardest stuff right (shoulders, chest, seat), but they somehow messed up on sleeve length and trouser length by a lot (1 inch or more).

The sleeves are too short by 1 inch (and really 1 1/4 inch on one side). But they have cut functioning button holes in the fabric.

There is enough fabric to add 1 inch of length, but the buttons will be awkward with that much lengthening, since that leaves just about 2 inches from the bottom of the cuff to the first button. So I could ask a local tailor to cut another button hole to balance it out, but then I'd have five buttons on the sleeves.

So my question is this: what are people's opinions on adding a fifth button hole to the sleeve to help balance out the lengthening? I'm pretty tall (190cm) and the suit is charcoal, if that makes any difference.

Perhaps I should go back to Indochino customer service (have not tried yet), but sleeve length is such an unfortunate reason to have to send it back.

I have blazers/spotcoat that has 1, 3, 4 buttons, never experience 5 buttons.

guess not a big issue as rarely we pay attention to that details. it's more of a psychological effect IMHO.

Five button holes was a passing fad ten years or so ago.

You should have researched this supplier before wasting your money. You would do better to reject it and get your money back (Preferably) or at least have them remake it. Trying to patch it up will not be satisfactory.

You got measured once. How many followup fittings?

Did you have on a proper dress shirt and shoes when you went for measurements?

And no, I would not go with 5 buttons.

I intentionally placed a 5th button to my blazers... feel like redundant ,,, you can find better ways than having 5 buttons on cuffs

Vox had an interesting bit of history to share on Twitter about five-button sleeves. Apparently Prince Charles wears a five-button sleeve on his Welsh Guards blazer to signify rank. "Grenadier is one button cuff, Coldstream two, Scots three, Irish four, and Welsh five, going from one to five in seniority."

But yes, outside of Prince Charles and his special blazer, a five button sleeve cuff will look bad.
