EG track pants, dry-clean only?

So I picked up a couple pairs of the engineered garments sweat pants (they might be called 'climbing pants?) to wear around the house, and it says on the tag that they're dry-clean only. Is that some kind of joke? I own a fair bit of different EG stuff, and it's not like they ask you to dry-clean everything. What is it about the sweat pants that would do poorly in a wet-wash?

Most likely to prevent shrinkage++. It might also induce pilling if you machine wash them too much. I'd guess that you could safely hand wash them though.

maybe you are supposed to wear them while your other pants are at the dry cleaners only?
