The tag looks legit and is in the right place. Although both ties look a bit eh.

Also $140 for a tie on eBay defeats the point of eBay.

Absolutely real. I've never seen anyone counterfeit a Neimans tag like that.

But since he is selling Kiton and for the prices that he asks, the seller should have a more elegant name than "cranko!".

Please ask yourself this question before you buy:

Were it not for the little black tag that says "Kiton", would I plop down this amount of money for this tie?

Agreed, the prices have been going way to high of late.
Shop Kanvas is posting a buy me now of $135 on a $195 tie!
Needless to say, they are not sailing out the door.

While I fully agree that Kiton is over priced, that little black tie also represents some of the finest silks to be found n any tie, like or hate Kiton, hard to deny. My Kiton ties have incredibly beautiful silk. Talbott, Borrell, Chavret (whgich I have and enjoy also), don't come close.

The question is more like:

****! That little black tag means great silk, maybe the best, do I plop down this amount of money for this tie knowing the huge markup taken on the very best silk??

Yes, even a lot of the Ebay NWOT(or excellent or mint condition) crowd has gone nuts.

Check out this seller's tie inventory. The prices are beyond absurd.

Stuff, like this $.99 cent Thrift store 100% pure acetate beauty for $53 delivered.

The other prices are just as out of whack. I wonder how many ties she sells monthly? She's got 135 similar values to this one listed.

It's said there is a sucker born every minute. A good Ebay seller like Vman or A Harris might know. Do you think it makes sense to list a ton of average or below average crap at absurd prices, and hope that you occasionally find a sucker and sell something?

It would seem like the Ebay relisting fees would eat you up but I don't know.

eBay ran a "maximum .50c insertion fee for all fixed price listing" promotion from 5/8-5/14 (dates off the top of my head, might be a little bit off). That explains all the glut of high-priced BIN listings on the site right now.

Thanks whacked. That helps explain it.

Can you imagine someone buying that ugly acetate tie for $53!

Now that would be an insertion

$140 is definitely on the high end of what Kiton ties fetch on ebay, but current retail is at least $280 so that is still 1/2 off.

Tie is real btw, and the thread title really ought to be edited.
