Drake's Grenadine Tie Tipped VS Untipped

I am looking at these black grenadine ties but I can't decide between the two.

Are they to be worn for different occasions? Is it a preference thing? Do they drape differently?

Or is it a seasonal thing? There a $10 difference between the two.

What are your thoughts?

A bit of everything. First seems more formal and more substantial, second a looser knit with possibly lighter fabric, likely intended for summer use. Given the see through nature of the second, I would hesitate to wear it with a suit for any sort of formal event. I'd go for the first.
