It really is a beautiful model from AE and most certainly is not a blob at all. The C&J Lowndes is a different styling on the toebox ( tapered plain toe w-medallion)and shouldn't be compared to the Mora in the first place. Both are beautiful.
Also, are you looking at new in box, or also looking at pre-owned?

Wrong. The Lowndes is a cap-toe with no medallion, just like the Mora. Apples to apples.

Big fat curvy American apples - with crappy buckles - to skinny, sleek English apples. Though the build quality on the suede Moras I have is slightly better than on my Lowndes.

Mora rocks! And it's cheap as hell. I got black and brown ones for < $160/pair (first quality) during the last tent sale.

Can't be beat.

It's actually the one on the left in the above picture. I got lucky. Their retail price was $440 but I got them for $260 at Christmas (40% off). I normally don't like monkstraps or double-monks, but these stood out as sleek and classy and don't give out the "boring" vibe.

Canali has them on their website. I wonder if you could find them anywhere else. I will see if I can get you the style # from my shoebox.

I'm just pulling this out of ****** without looking, but have you checked out Herring's Shoes? They might have something.

herring only has the loake monk...and i think, it kind of looks strange because the two buckles are so close to each other!
i prefer the classic placement of the buckles and a nice antiquing on a nice shape
