Hello,

I have a hectic 4 day London trip coming up where I'll have the best part of a few hours set aside to purchase my first pair of double monks. I ll be staying in Mayfair and therefore will be within close range of alot of shopping options.

I am looking for a dark brown pair. I ve read up on a lot of the brands and i am keeping an open mind as to which one i will settle for. Given my lack of time on this trip i was hoping i could get recommendations for the best locations to try as wide a variety as possible of double monks. Obvious names like selfridges harrods spring to mind but I'd rather have a more intimate shopping experience. I want to avoid mono brand shops as i prefer to judge for myself which pair is going to be best amongst a contrasting array of qualities and styles.

Looking forward to everyone's input!

I think all the major shoemakers now have shops on or in the arcades just off Jermyn Street.

I can't think of a shop that would have examples of more than one or two of them other than the ones you mention.

Edward Green, John Lobb - the rest don't make a nice double monk in my opinion.
