I've never owned a pair of cuffed dress pants, but from all the pics here, the idea is growing on me. Those shoes do seem to call out for cuffed pants - I think it has to do broguing in general (at least in my mind)

TBH, Im not a fan of either. Although the shell chukkas in Ed's FS thread keeps tempting me to initiate myself.

Me neither. Come to Stockholm and wear your G&G's!

But if there's salt in the snow, it's a good idea to wipe them off as soon as you get indoors because that salt will leave nasty stains and cause damage to the leather if unattended.

I have a dark navy suit also (almost black) and I wear dark brown suits (kind of a light burgandy). Should I be wearing black shoes???

They can: there is too much snootiness about rights and wrongs.

you can definitely wear brown shoes with a dark navy blue suit. just wear a belt that's of a similar-shade to your shoes.

or if even if you go with a black belt, it will still work. and it will work for an office environment as well - even if you're an investment banker.

I'm of the opinion that if the suit is navy, brown shoes are NOT to be worn. For one, brown is a casual color. I see guys wearing light brown with navy suits, and I've never seen anything tackier. Black is a formal color, and as long as I'm putting on a suit, especially navy (a dark color) Id be donning black shoes (lace ups, not loafers). The contrast between the light brown and dark navy is not pleasing to the eye. Black shoes are the respected and more aesthetically pleasing option in a business setting. I think brown can look good with the right shade of gray...a lighter shade, but that's about it. If you're in a suit, don't clown it up with brown, especially light brown.
