Deformed collars after wash...

so after i wash my causal button up shirts the collars tend to look odd...the collar becomes round and no longer like an M (if that makes sense...imagine the collar lol)....the tips curve in and dont sit straight...how can i correct this? I dont want to starch them since i do wear them casually and feel thats too stiff for casual wear....any tips? what do you guys do? thanks!

Iron them.

Iron them on both sides as well. I have had the same problem in the past.

Get them damp, them iron them. That will work even better than doing it when bone dry.

Speaking of deformed collars, mine show a little bit of a salmon color after a wash. How do I prevent this? Dry clean only?

On a similar note: any idea what to do with knit collars on polos that don't "break" in the same place so the tips are of different length?
Ironing does not work in this case for some reason...

^I try to wash polos with the collars popped/flat. Then you can bend them into shape after the wash. It helps to dry them laying flat rather than machine dry, but it's kind of a pain.

You mean like ring-around-the-collar? Before putting it in the wash, rub some detergent into the collar where it touches your neck or hairline, or buy shout! or something and brush it in.

I've really ONLY had gross collar stains on dry cleaned shirts, never on home-laundered shirts.

Ring-around-the-collar... not quite. It's usually on the inside of the collar (the part that normally touches my neck) and usually only on the front edges/corners. Normally they aren't on the part of the inside of the collar that touches the back of the neck. Not sure if I explained it properly, but I'll try shout anyway.

June - you can try using Shout! or a bit of detergent, but personally, I've had best results with shampoo, water, and a soft toothbrush. Just go gentle.
