Cordovan boots - a recipe for hot feet?

I'm interested in a pair of Alden cordovan boots. Can anyone with experience tell me if the non-permeability of the leather leads to your feet being really hot? I live in LA, so I'm probably not wearing them that often, but it's a great look.

LA is not that hot. you can wear them. If you don't like stinky shoes, give them a day in between wears to air out.

I have several pair of shell cordovan boots in both chukkas and high boots. Heat has never been an issue for me. I wear the chukkas year round but only wear the high boots in winter.

I've never noticed much difference between shell and calfskin when it comes to breatheability. I think it's one of those " clothes forum urban legends".

I don't know it that's totally true. I'd say that on the margins, cordovan wears a little warmer than calf, but it's in a range in which, if you are not particularly sensitive to the temperature of your feet, many probably wouldn't notice any difference at all.

I wear shell shoes and boots all the time here in Hawaii. I don't feel the difference at all.

Socks make a much bigger difference for me than shoe material.

I wear shell ankle boots year round, and very often on or close to the equator. they may be a little warmer than regular shoes, but they aren't so warm that I would switch back to shoes, or to calf

Cordovan can buckle and twist more than calf leather if sizing/fit is not accurate.

Could this not look more unsightly on a boot ?
