I look at those chairs and wonder if your kids would be more likely to dive bomb on them because they seem whimsical
Substitute kids for the dog (although kids are surely to come in a year or two) and that’s why the eames is in the study and not in the living room. That old thing has survived 42 years so far, and in its current place will make fifty easily. In the living room id be posting about how expensive some repairs are.

I like to think that furniture should be used and usable and not hidden away from children and pets (what or who are our houses for?), but I still wince every time my son dives over the back of our Hans Olsen easy chair to grab the cat...

It's SOOOOO expensive, but I keep going back to the Paulin pacha chairs for the pair of living room chairs I've been looking for. No doubt not the most consensual choice but they have that weirdly charming, inviting vibe that makes me smile.

Dont you have kids? Squishy chairs and white boucle looking fabric is risky business with adults let alone kids.

IIRC, Greg's boys are old enough now that the chairs would have a decent chance :)

Is this the color and fabric you're going with for the chairs? I'm a big fan of knoll textile for upholstery.

My parents had an area in the house with the nice furniture for entertaining guest. We knew that room was off limits to us as kids.

Same. And then guests would come over and we’d hang out everywhere but the formal living area. It didn’t help that my Mom loved Victoriana, and that **** was not comfortable.

Same here. This got sorely tested when I started throwing teenage house parties.

My stepmother had an off-limits living room with plastic on the furniture. She also had plastic runners on the carpet in the hallway. She grew up poor AF outside Tyler, Texas, though.

My old man and my aunt back in the day at my grandparents house. If you notice the the plastic on the lower left. I got to experience the plastic as a young boy. Maybe @gdl203 can bring it back in style with his new chairs.
