Thought I'd throw this out there. I will be attending a wedding in mid-June and I'm planning on wearing a very light-weight unstructured wool sport jacket with linen pants. My concern is that the jacket, though light and prone to wrinkle somewhat, will not wrinkle nearly as much as the linen pants over the course of the day, and therefore the ensemble is at risk of looking odd later on (wrinkly pants with relatively unwrinkled jacket). Does this make sense?
The jacket will be a very light-weight wool royal blue 3/2 button jacket with hacking pockets and single vent (buttons are light beige horn). The pants will be a rich cream cuffed flat front linen. I'll match them with white shirt, pink seersucker tie, white linen ps, brown gator belt and antiqued cognac monkstraps. The wedding is semi-formal I suppose (groom/groomsmen not wearing tuxedos) so I want to look sharp but tending toward casual. (I desperately want to wear a panama hat, but my wife thinks I'll look the fool. I love hats, why'd we abandon them?)
I'd post pics but the jacket is currently at the tailor.
Need I be concerned about combining the linen pants with the wool jacket? Should I opt for a sturdier pant made of cotton or light wool?
Thanks for any advice.
