I have about 30 of similar clear boxes, which I use for my sneakers etc. They are very useful as the uniformity of the boxes allows easy stacking. That being said, I'm a size 9 so I can use smaller boxes. When first bent into shape, the sides are slightly curved and this makes stacking a little harder, but you can work something out.

The best part is knowing what shoe is in each box without opening them, previously i used to use small printed pictures of the shoe.

I cannot comment on durability as I have only had them about a year.

I prefer shelving for my shoes. Faster access when I need a pair, and they breath. But to each his (her) own.
