I'm looking to subscribe to a classic man fashion magazine, sort of a classic one who educates about how to dress up and style.

Any suggestions?

yeah, there aren't any in the USA. GQ and Esquire suck for the most part, with only two or three pages (if you're lucky) that deal with classic style you'd likely find of any interest. Ditto for Details, except that it usually has a significant homosexual slant in most issues, in my opinion.

One look at the Rake magazine, and you'll find GQ, Esquire, and Details all utterly worthless-- but you may also want to simply buy books on mens style, like the one produced by Details, those written by Alan Flusser and G. Bruce Boyer, etc.

I see... well, it looks like I'll have to go with GQ.

Any specific books I "must" have?

It seems like there are not too many options out there. I'll start with GQ and I'll try to find one The Rake to see how it is (because it's a fairly expensive mag).

Thanks so much for your help,

Details? That's for frat boys with no money and no taste.

Esquire is clueless. I don't think editors know who their readers are. I get only it because they offer me $7 subscriptions.

GQ is pretty good. Although they need to stop with the dopey grooming and where-to-get-the-best-ham-sandwich features. Which they actually ran this month.

Rake? Never heard of it. Will investigate. Thanks for the tip.

Well... have you checked out Vogue Homme? Not sure I'd say it's really a magazine on classic menswear, but it does have some of it, especially the ads. Think I actually sumbled across a couple of Brioni ads in that one.

Not exactly right on the money with regards to what you were asking for, but I think it's worth a read when it comes out 2 times a year.
