Hi, this is my first post. I'm not a ''dapper'' gentleman but at 33 I've decided to get a simple wardrobe that's suitable for most of my needs - black (naturally fading) chinos, black long sleeve t shirts, simple black jumpers and a faded calfskin jacket. My boots are Charcoal Red Wing Iron Rangers and after buying some smart looking boots from All Saints and having them fall apart within a few weeks, I decided I wanted some more genuine smart/casual boots. Anyway...
I've found myself coveting Crockett and Jones Islay boots in dark brown Scotch grain, but at £460 they are a LOT more expensive than the other boots which are on sale (and I've never spent more than £200 on a pair of boots before). That kind of money is crazy to me but I just really like them.
I have unusually narrow feet so I can't go with Tricker's so easily as they feel a bit wide, which is a shame because I like them and they are £275 on sale at the moment. I have C width feet according to Crockett and Jones, and I generally wear ''normal'' boots but with innersoles to fill them up. Do you know if the Islay ever go on sale, or if they come up often on eBay etc? I'm a UK7.5.
Also, does anyone know when this boot first came out? There's no info about that as far as I can tell...
