Hey everyone, for the past year and a half I have been wearing Adidas Sambas for everyday use and I feel like I need more shoes, or at least one more pair. The Black Adidas Sambas cannot match up with everything I wear so I need something that gives me more flexibility to color coordinate. Because money is somewhat of an issue, I am looking to spend from the $30-80 range. I am thinking of maybe getting these types of vans:

They are just plain shoes, but the problem is EVERYONE owns a pair and I am not sure if I just want to follow suit with everyone. Or the Tretorn T-56:

These are simple looking shoes, but one problem is that they are white and autumn/winter is right around the corner. The other thing is I wear Nudie jeans and I don't know how much dye is going to rub off on these. Any recommendations would be very appreciated. I think I want to stay in the blue and or white color range so I can try to maximize color coordination. EDIT: No Pumas please.

Jack Purcell's are a great option, especially for the price. There are plenty of color choices as well.

If getting them right away isn't important, you can customize CTs/Purcells at Converse's site. Yes, they're ubiquitous, but still always a safe bet. Otherwise, maybe PF Flyers? I've never owned anything from Tretorn, but they're shoes seem nice enough.

Are PF Flyers a better quality than Vans?

I just bought a pair of Simple shoes. I got the sno tire hemp version, which looks similar to the purcell's except without the rubber toe cap. The white is kind of an off white under close inspection. I think this shade of white looks better than a straight bleach white. I ordered them off the Simple website but they are on zappos as well. About $55, and I can fit my custom orthotics in them, and very fast shipping from www.simpleshoes.com.

I wouldn't really say they're leaps and bounds better than Vans quality wise, but they're more comfortable to wear.

I faced the same problem, but randomly discovered these at a boutique shoe store called Bodega in Boston.

Evisu Natsake's - mine are white/gold, but they come in a few diff colors if u look around online. Similar look to vans/all-stars..but NO ONE has them (no one ive met at least). I paid $85 for them, but after putting them in the washing machine a dozen times, (theyre canvas uppers) - they are starting to fall apart and i begin a new quest for uncommon shoes...and more suggestions???

I would actually stick with the Authentics if all else fails. I've been thinking of picking up a pair myself in white.
