What's everyone's thoughts on 70/30 Cashmere Silk Blends especially in sweaters?

I recently got a Suitsupply turtleneck and I'm trying to compare this with other brands. This is advertised as Cashmere Silk which is a 70/30 brand respectively. I know that silk can add shape and sheen to the fabric, but the pitfall is that sometimes the cashmere is of a lower grade. I will say that having worn this once it did pill around the armpits a bit more than I expected which is making me re think looking at some 100% cashmere options which are advertised as 2 Ply / 14 Gauge. Your thoughts?

The quality of a sweater is mostly in the yarn, which is all but impossible for a consumer to judge when looking at a knit in a store. As you noted, after having worn the sweater for a while, it pilled. Unless you're willing to pay a lot of money for a cashmere knit, lower end cashmere is typically not worth buying. They're made from shorter fibers and often knitted with a lot of slack, which means they pill and stretch out over time.

You can judge the quality of a sweater mostly by the brand. The other stuff -- made in Italy, fiber blend, finishing, etc -- won't tell you as much as the name on the label.
