That is so cool. The NA Carrera cup is a brand new series for 2021 with just a handful of races. I would love to check one out in person. Watkins Glen is the only northeast race.

You'd be surprised, it comes back immediately. By the time I left the lot, I was completely comfortable with the clutch. I certainly wasn't rev matching on downshifts but getting a feel for the car was perfectly fine.

Like you, I drove a stick until my late 20's and then a sea of company cars took over including gems like the venerable Ford Taurus, Explorer and Edge (...want the rental car experience full time? Get a job as a drug rep in the 90's!). Then it was midsize SUV after midsize SUV and rental cars every month or so and the next thing you know you haven't driven a manual transmission in 15 years.

I was looking at used GTI's last year so I wasn't really worried about the car especially after watching a dealer try and fail to find a sales guy who could drive a stick. As @otc points out, I'd imagine those GTI's, golf R's and WRX's have a very rough first few miles on the lot.

I suspect you're right; after a couple of years off it only took me a few miles to be as good with non-synchro as ever I'd been (rubbish - but not that rubbish!)

Yet the thought of some oily-haired sales kid rolling his eyes as I hesitantly make the first few changes...

They should make center console delete and option and just denote it with a wink emoji.

I’m fairly certain a lot of pickups have a front bench option. For jobsite blowies.

New S5 Sportback picked up. Went with Daytona Gray. I mentioned upthread how easy the process was... they caught me when i was in for maintenance and asked if i wanted to get out of my lease 6 months early. Even cut me a check for the extra payment i made on the old lease while i was waiting for delivery.

More dealers should do this... if they dont already.
