well, at least chucks/jp's/keds/etc. are cheap. i've heard putting a pillow case or some other thin cotton bag around them will help to minimize the wear and tear when spinning around in the machine.

I've not washed my Chucks which are fairly dirty but have considered it because of the foot odor inside and slight stickyness inside on hot summer days. I like them to look dirty for sure but wouldn't want to go around smelling like a sweaty foot.

How the hell do you guys get smelly shoes? You do realize that socks are not simply decorative?

IMO Its better just to clean them with 409 or non-bleach multi-surface cleaner. I like clean chucks, but JP's look really nerdy until they are beat to ****.

I have never heard of that, but I like it. I wash my shoes probably 2x a year, and I do them all at once. A couple of things, you will get them out with some very very very slight scuffing, so the pillow cases might solve that. I

I wash mine with the laces separate and the insoles separate if possible

I try to put it on delicates because the agitation is less and I think the spin is gentler

DO NOT WASH THEM IN HOT OR HOT-WARM water. I usuall fill the washer with 1/2 cold, and then half warm, and rinse cold. I did hot the first itme I tried this and wound up with elf shoes as the rubber soles curled

Then just air dry - relace and viola. It really makes a difference so I recomend doing it
