He said he charges around $1400 (if I recall correctly). Might we worth a shot but I haven't taken the plunge.
Yes, this is who I'm talking about. I will do a full photo essay once we get started - he is on vacation for most of the month. If you plan to go in to speak to him please let me know so you can mention my real name to him, as he knows me.

He should be back from Italy. He did my jacket on his return. I did have some concern about the waist suppression he did. Seems to be some flaring on the vents. I was going to take another look and possibly take it back to him.

I was also going to try the tailor at Umberto's downtown.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. I'm going to have to check him out in a week or so. It's amazing how difficult it can be for us.

That being said, anyone feel like devoting 15 years of their life to becoming a master tailor for us Canadian folk to use?

All this time I never figured out why I was always showing up to my meetings one hour early, now I know Toronto is in the central time zone.

Canada is a sartorial wasteland

(and I'm from Vancouver).

Wouldn't it be more accurate, then, to say that Vancouver is a sartorial wasteland?

The constant litany of complaints about how poorly dressed Canadians supposedly are is really one of the more tiresome variants on the national self-castigation obsession (only bested, IMHO, by the self-loathing complaints about self-loathing). Canadians, on average, as far as I can tell, dress no worse than Americans. Nor do they dress significantly worse than the inhabitants of most other Northwestern countries.

In Toronto and Montreal at least, there's an ample supply of high-end men's clothing, but at the inflated prices dictated by a limited market. It's a relatively small country, after all. Shoes, I will admit, are a different matter...

Montreal is very sartorial, although I don't consider it Canada, although it is in the country.
Montreal is almost too fashionable, A trend here lasts about as long as a season until you start to notice it everywhere, people tend to go overboard because of this.

Yeah, what about in Edmonton, guys? I'm looking for a good tailor, at the very least for alterations.

There is a large Edmonton thread that I think covers this.
