Can polo shirts be shortened? I'm a short guy and its hard to find a polo shirt that doesn't go down to my knees. Can tailors get rid of a few inches of length?

You can ask a reweaver / reknitter to do it for you, although it might end up costing more than your polo shirt.

Absolutely. I have my tailor do it all the time, he charges about $15 per shirt.

There's no reason to have a reweaver do it - most polo shirts are just cut and sewn anyway.

I know some high end knit polo shirts are fully fashioned (knit-finished) at the hem, but most of your normal pique or interlock polos with the shirt-tail bottom have cut and serged hems. You can even cut, overlock and sew with a normal sewing machine.

yes, polo shirts can be shortened. my cousin does it all the time. ralph lauren polos are 2 big for him, he gets it done through a tailor. he charges about 5 pounds per t-shirt. so i guess, thts not a problem.

On patterned polo shirts, the results might not look so good.

i've had polo shirts shortened...one thing to consider though....when you shorten, you might need to take in the sides too b/c when the shirt is shorter, it'll appear wider, IMO

It is a simple alteration. I am very pleased with the results from my local dry cleaners/tailor. I got tapering and shortening done for $10/ea.

Since I bought my own sewing machine I have been altering my own polos like crazy. As long as they fit in the shoulder, any other alteration is pretty easy to do yourself.
