Button downs that can be worn untucked with jeans

Does anyone know of any button down shirts that are short enough, and have the proper hem to be worn untucked with jeans? I'm just looking for simple shirt styles like J. Crew makes, but in the case of J. Crew the shirts are generally long for a short guy like me, and the way the shirts are hemmed makes wearing them untucked look strange. Thanks.

BoO - Band of Outsiders are usually short and can be worn untucked. Just cost you an arm and a leg.

you can always just get them tailored, it would prolly cost you around $10 to hem the shirts.

I still haven't tried BoO shirts yet but the Steven Alan one I tried on I wasn't really impressed with length wise (it looked like an ordinary button up shirt untucked) especially for its price. I got a Jcrew shirt that I had shortened by my tailor and now it's a perfect fit for a button up that I have no plans to tuck in.

I have an Old Navy shirt that I bought in Soho last summer that sounds like what you want. It's short sleeve and not button down, but I'm sure that they have long-sleeved shirts now. And it cost $16, no tailoring required.

I tried on a BoO oxford this weekend in a medium. The fit is very slim without being tight. The only gripe i have is the neck is a bit too big. Im a 15.5 neck and was surprised a Medium neck would be looser then that. For that price I think it should fit everywhere prefectly.
SA shirts I like the fit of the reverse seam (with the twisted placket) around the body. Only thing is b/c of the twisted placket when i button the second button from the top it everything seems to pull towards my shoulders. Im guessing this is how its suppose to fit? The single needle is a bit looser and longer.

Does anyone know how a shirt is shortened? I'm just curious. Is the original hem of the shirt still intact?

No. You cut the shirt fabric at the bottom and re-hem it. So don't try this on a denim shirt.

Trovata shirts are pretty decent as well for length but have the same issue with the collar.
