Business casual and black shirts

I wear solid black shirts with gray wool pants and nice black wingtips all the time to work. Never once had an "are you going to a club" type comment. Sometimes I'll even go all black and throw in a skinny white tie, guido would never do such a thing...

Absolutely loathe the look of black shirts. +1 to the fascist rally comment. The other shirts won't be "boring" but they will be "not horrendously ugly." There are a plethora of wonderful checks, stripes and solids in light colours to last a lifetime.

Don't listen to these fops. They seem to be applying the rules for wearing a suit to wearing shirts, which makes no sense. Much of the point of business casual, for good or ill, is that it's very hard to screw up. Wear your black shirt with gray slacks, or khakis, or even black slacks if you're bold. I'm pretty sure no one will think you accidentally wore evening wear to work.

I see black shirts worn often for business casual, but I'm not a fan of black or any other dark-colored shirts.
