Burberry Trench Outfit Alternatives?

I've always loved the look of the Burberry trench, especially this outfit from the 2009 line:

As I'm still a college student, Burberry prices are usually out of my range. What brand would be worth looking at for slim trenches like above? I also like the way their pants are always so slim and tailored -- what other brands would have a similar fit?

On a last note, what are the black parts that come out near the wrists? It looks really sharp, but I can't tell if it's a glove, or part of the jacket.

Burberry has an outlet you know. I've found lots of great stuff at the one near Chicago.

Well unfortunately I live in Canada, where there are no Burberry stores, let alone outlets, anywhere close.
