I like the Roman look. Now that I think about it, I would prefer a Brioni to an Attolini tuxedo - for the added drama, but would prefer Attolini for everyday wear (a billionaire's gotta look comfy most days.)

I think fully bespoke Brioni is only offered at their store in Milan; or did I get my information wrong?  The shop is actually an older-styled shop, not like the one at Barberini, and the bespoke suit costs much, much higher.
Yes they offer bespoke at via Barberini.  I picked up my last ones 2 years ago, but maybe they don't anymore? But  I believe SatorialSolutions/Chuck has been to the store recently and saw them tailoring.

With the number of options available in Italy, I cannot imagine why someone would go to Brioni for MTM. By the way, how does Isaia MTM compare to Borrelli, since we are discussing the subject?

I recently (September '04) had a suit made at Carbone, near Vatican City. The suit was excellent (albeit a boring 2-button grey flannel), and the styling is, like Brioni, Roman: prominent lines, pronounced body. The amount of handwork could drive anyone of you here dizzy --- it is completely handmade, and I mean completely. All visible seams, on top of the usual places, even the side seams of the jacket and the pants are hand stitched, buttonholes are hand embroidered ('locked' only on the up side), pad stitching on the lapels, etc.. Well, fit is still more important. This was my first order, I am quite satisfied though not perfect yet, but I look forward to my second order.

Yes, when one is in Rome, Brioni becomes an option, not a must. Also, most work are not done at the Barberini workshop, which is now only used to do 'smaller' scale work.

Why did you pick somethng you thought boring? Also, how much did you pay? How did you find this place?

I picked it because the fabric has a good hand. I chose a 'boring' suit because it was my first order. I never order anything elaborate at any tailors for the first order, usually a sportcoat instead of a suit. I figure the possibility of making a mistake (both style wise or craftsmanship) in such a generic, bland suit is small; but on the other hand, if one could surprise me even with such a simple suit, a second order will surely follow.

Because it is a 'known' quantity, you know the general cut and workmanship that you will be getting. Not many people who travel have the time or knowledge of other possiblities in MTM in Italy. That is only achived after several long visits. Originally posted by naturlaut:

Exactly, but one must pay a visit to Barberini

I don't know the specific models that you are looking for, but Isaia MTM has less handwork than Borrelli. A bit more structure in the shoulders and chest. Borrelli has a neapolitan shoulder i.e pleatings and very high cut armholes (Isaia is also high, but not as high), softer chest. But that is what I've seen on this side - according to A.Harris, a lot of the Borrellis/Kitons in the States do not have such a prominent neapolitan shoulder.

I have a question on the MTM process. I don't like flap pocket on men's suit, so if I purchase a MTT Brioni suit at the Beverly Hills store, will they make the suit without the flap pocket

Can you just tuck the flap in? Most flap pockets are constructed such that they look just like jetted pockets when the flap is tucket into the pocket.

Most likely... but if you're serious about it and close to doing it, why don't you ask the store? This thread is 8 years old by the way.

Of course you can, when you are ordering it at the store they will run you through all the options; cloth, number of buttons, pocket flaps, ticket pockets, cuff no cuffs, pant pockets, coin pocket, interior jacket pockets, etc. Even though they will be using a block pattern the suit is still made for you with your input.
