What's with all these quirky leather / bead / silver bracelets the Italians wear? I kinda dig the look. Is this some cultural trend or just the inner sprezzatura showing through?

I don't know about "the Italians". That pic happens to be of one quirky guy - who also has a large tattoo on his foot.

Luca Rubinacci can get away with just about anything.

Why don't you mail their Milan location and ask him? He's mostly based there.

Honestly theres nothing Italian about that. Bracelets are popular amongst many groups, especially kids between 16-26ish. I own several bracelets like those, they're pretty popular in Mexico. I pick them up all the time when I'm on trips...I'm 19 by the way. I wouldn't wear them if I was 40ish, but thats just my opinion.

Christofuh, that's what I mean. Mr. Valentino's, btw, are certainly a bit more "sophisticated" than Luca's. I see these bracelets all the time on Italian men in the Sartorialist or Men's Ex. Just wanted to know what the deal is, if any.

Call me a prude, but "ritardato" is just a word that even though I know it has no negative connotations like what it sounds like in English, nevertheless just isn't a word I want to use to describe myself.

It's like when I wear my "Lardini" suit... I just feel embarrassed saying it. Anyway, as for the bracelets, on some men it works. I'm an admitted fan of Valentino Garavani and think most everything he wears and the way he presents himself is just great. When I'm 119 years old, I hope I look half as good.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
