Black trousers and tweed jacket?

I am on the lookout for a tweed jacket. Was thinking of wearing it to a wedding in a couple of weeks here in Ireland but also wear it with jeans as well on casual basis.

David Beckham wore something similar to what I have in mind

Does anyone know where I could get such a jacket?

You'll find few friends for black trousers here but do not worry about that!

tweed sports coats are common place unless you are seeking the identical garment - Beckham has many of his clothes made for him so it is quite likely a special one off.

I love tweed with jeans, tweed jackets are very versatile however I would never wear one to a wedding unless perhaps if the wedding is taking place in a barn :)

What colour is the jacket he is wearing do you think? I cant find it anywhere on the sites here in the UK.

I need a new pair of black trousers although I would love a new navy suit as well so not ruling out wearing that to the wedding.

He looks great in them though.

I don't like black jeans but a buddy says I should get a pair to wear with my grey herringbone tweed jacket.

Brown tweed with black strides looks crap but a salt and pepper donegal or a black and white herringbone, each of which resolves to a grey mottled colour, would be a better option with black. Better yet if you dress it down with black jeans or cords or whatever, but like your man up thread says, tweed jacket to a wedding sounds off unless the reception is a hayride to the farmers' market.

The outfit Beckham has on would be appropriate for an evening reception at a wedding? The jacket he has on is great looking.

I have a pair of black flanel trousers and find that they look very good with several of my odd jackets. Got them to go with a black and green Isaia cashmere jacket but have found more uses than I had first thought I would. I am becoming a convert.

Ignoring my dislike of black odd trousers for the minute, I don't think that jacket is particularly appropriate for an evening reception at a wedding. I have nothing against tweed, but I would not wear it to a wedding. If you know the wedding is going to be rather casual and people will not be in suits, this may matter less, but you should really wear a suit to the wedding unless told otherwise. Perhaps you've been told that most will not be in suits and my concern is irrelevant, but it's something to consider. Even if you would not look out of place with an odd jacket, a navy blazer and greys is far more appropriate IMO.

If you want to wear the brown tweed jacket, find a nice pair of medium grey flannel trousers, not black. If you insist on wearing black trousers, I would find a grey herringbone or similar odd jacket that will look better with black trousers.

Thanks for the post. As I said earlier I am still in 2 minds on whether to go and get a new navy suit or go for the black trouser combo. I am open to suggestions you have made and will hopefully get to try some clothes on this weekend. Thanks again
