HI, just a quick question that I've had no luck finding a sufficient answer to online.

What or who is Bill Blass? Are these clothes decent?

Thanks.

Bill Blass (deceased) was a big womens designer in the '80s. Like most big time designers, he licensed his name out to other products... which really picked up pace after he "retired" in the mid '90s (someone correct my dates if I'm wrong).

I see alot of Bill Blass at outlets, from what I've seen the quality is on par with department store brands. Think of the "Christian Dior" licensed stuff that's all over the place. OK for the pricepoint, but you could do better with sales/outlets/eBay.

Cool, I ask because I happen to hear the name often enough to recognize it while sifting through the coat rack at the local second-hand shop and came across a rather nice sportcoat, very spring-ish, with a tag that said Bill Blass Diamonds or something of the sort. It was a whole $5 and it's quite a good fit. Just never really paid attention to what the Blass was all about.

Thanks for the info.

isnt' someone by the name of lars nilsson now designing the bill blass line (or at least the men's line)?

some of the clothing in the ads actually look decent for once, but assuming the quality will be on par with mid market price points a la jhane barnes or perry ellis or andrew fezza type clothing
