Just because I don't like the outfits you post here doesn't mean I'm judging them according to some style rules. I just don't like how those outfits look.

I... wasn't referring to that. Like at all. I was talking about style and perceptions more generally.

Now I don't agree with Derek on everything but you're making a straw man here: you're trying to make him stand for something (everything?) you disagree with, but I think you'll find that his views aren't what you believe them to be.

Maybe it’s all based on the oxfords with denim thing? Just because he says oxfords don’t look good with jeans doesn’t mean he’s pushing rules.

Not at all. I didn't say he was saying those things, just that I observed those ideas on this site and elsewhere about style from other people.

I do think that he's made posts before which differ somewhat from an individualistic version of style, but I know that people's opinions can evolve, and I think that's a good thing.

Edit: I see the confusion. That post was an explanation of what I thought 'individualistic style' meant, not what I thought DWW believed.

Just checking in to see whether or not I've missed the posts about everyone's bespoke trucker wallets. Still to come I see.
I sold a super sweet alligator trucker wallet on here many years ago, from when Lambertson Truex folded. I almost adopted that stupid style just for that wallet.

I have a trucker wallet from Flat Head. Handsewn from steerhide using intertwining strands of cow tendon. Finished with sterling silver bits. Wallet originally started in that pale "natural leather" color but has since darkened from use and sunlight.

I went to see a chiropractor once and she said big, bulky wallets like these are bad for your back.

I'm kinds surprised that the post of Derek's Bolo tie didn't get more pro and anti bolo posts.
My dad wore bolos once or twice a week. I had a couple as a kid and wore them in high school occasionally but not since then. D's is one of the nicest I've ever seen, along w/ one @clothingfun posted a while back.

@dieworkwear, that guy did look good in his. Reminded me of @lefty or @Baron. I could see either of them pulling it off, along w/ @Parker. What's AoM, btw?
