Does anyone know who makes Barneys house label tailored clothing these days? I was in today and what I saw looked significantly nicer than what they've had in the past. The fall sportcoats, at $1095, were in fabrics with fantastic patterns. Full canvas. Unfinished sleeves. Decent pick stitching, though I think it was machine--didn't look very closely. I didn't have my camera with me or I would have taken a picture. When I asked the salesman he went and checked and was told "Artisan." Never heard of it...

Any ideas?

I didn't realize our very own Fran was in the business.

If made in Italy, my guess would be Piatelli given that Barneys is their main outlet and that they may even own a stake in them.

But in the past, Barneys Piatelli suits had a Piatelli label on them (and were fused). These looked signifcantly different. They had a sleeve tag somewhat similar to Isaia or Zileri Sartoriale (don't think it's either of these) and a striped sleeve lining. I'll try to get there with a camera one of these days. If they get marked down as significantly as some of the Barney's stuff does, they'd be a good deal.

I have some older Piatelli models that are definitely fully canvassed and as quite like Brionis. Lots of real handwork and beautiful fabrics, thought they are from the early 90s.

I noticed the same thing about a month ago and would love to find out the answer.

I would need to see the label but most likely Ettore de Ceare, as I think they are the sole Italian maker for Barneys house label. Barneys has stepped up the quality of their house label shoes and suits.

In the left inside pocket it says the material is Loro Piana Super 160's 15,5 micron. Below that is got a white tag showing size and model/client numbers. On the right inside it just says Barneys New York.

On left sleeve (sleeves are open) there is an off white tag sewn on. On the inside it shows again size, client and collection numbers.

Inside sleeves are striped, white base, blue and purple stripes.

I think the stitching is hand.

Sounds like Ettore, they make for Domenico Vacca also.

I have bought several recently at the new Barney's in Palazzo in Las Vegas. If my memory was better I could help, but it isn't. However from the answers so far Caruso strikes a better cord than the other names. Apparently the same maker makes for Vacca and Gucci.

Wherever, I very much like them. I have bought 3 house label and 1 Kiton from them this summer. The Kiton is what it is, but I was very very much impressed with the house brands. Wonderful sleeve head, soft canvas and excellent materials......particularly marked down from $1095 to the sale $599. Barney's was also kind enough to modify the sleeve from the shoulder as the sleeve's seem to be cut extra long. Not the Kiton (it didn't need it) but the house labels.

I am pretty sure they are made by Caruso as well. I tried some of their house label suits and jackets on earlier this summer. The price is pretty good for the quality. I really liked the fabrics and patterns. However the cut left much to be desired imo and I greatly prefer my Caruso made RL Black Label tailored clothing. The cut was more American (read: boxy) and lacking in definition. Of couse, that is a matter of personal preference. I think though they are a great value otherwise, especially if found on sale.

They are made by Caruso, the newer house lable tailored stuff. Just came back from the sale, and had a chance to check out the new Barney house label stuff. Actually if you didn't tell me it was the Barney's house label, I would have thought it was a Caruso suit. Same exact soft , close to no padding shoulders, and construction is on par with the Carosu suits I've seen. When they get marked down more to maybe around 400-500 range, its a excellent value suits.
