Are there any times you do not wear a pocket square?

I don't wear a pocket square to work either with suits or sportcoats. I find that it makes me look too frivolous and dandyish and that's not the image I try to portray at work.

Socially - I'll wear a pocket square with a dressed up casual outfit (nice trousers and sport coat) or a suit, but not if I'm wearing a sportcoat with jeans.

I don't wear them to church or to funerals and I wouldn't wear one to an interview.

Didn't wear one today because I had to attend a gathering/conference with a large number of people in various technology industries (i.e., mostly software related) - Since even a tie can be a rarity among most technology entrepreneurs, I thought wearing a suit with a french cuffed shirt was pretty risky - I feared a pocket square would be way over-the-top.

By and large, I wear one almost always - with suit or sport coat.

I aim to always wear a square with a coat and find that plain linen works well in situations where I am dressed more casually or want to tone it down. I usually only wear silk squares with a suit and linen/cotton/wool with sportcoats. That said, I still have not brought myself to wear a pocket square when teaching. I am already the most dressed up in my department (by far) by virtue of wearing a coat and tie and don't want to go over the top with a square. I'll try again next semester...

I wear a white linen square with my suit almost every day, the exception being when I have a pitch with a prospective client. I'm fairly young (27) for my industry, and we are usually meeting with CFOs and CEOs of corporations. The last thing I want to do is to come across as pretentious, and I think we all recognize that some folks view pocket squares as an unnecessary affectation.

Many times. Quite often, these days.

Rare is the occasion where I am sans square. And those tend to be occasions where somberness is in the air. If I need to be more subdued, white linen or cotton works well. Otherwise, I choose a patterned silk or colored linen that either compliments a subtle color in my palette or one that offers a jaunty juxtaposition to my overall look. Oh yeah, I like to play with it!

A day without a square is like a day without sunshine; and we can't have that in sun drenched SoCal.

While I carry a pocket square with me at all times, I do occasionally hide it from view when meeting with certain groups. But then, it is my practice to modulate my attire, to some degree, depending on who I'll be seeing on a particular day.

I wear a pocket square with my sports jackets and suits. There might of been a few rare days when I decided not to wear a pocket square in favor of a more simple look. That probably happened only once or twice this year so far.

The only time I will not wear a pocket square with a jacket/suit is when I am on an interview or appearing in court.
