Are stylish people generally happier?

Do you guys tend to notice that a well-dressed person seems to come off as more content and that frumps are usually the mopey, grumbling curmudgeons?

I think the relationship is between being well-dressed and confident, not well-dressed and happy. In my opinion people who are well-dressed are going to be more confident than people who are not, and this can look like happiness/unhappiness to the outside observer.

The threak title uses the word "stylish" but here you use the term "well-dressed." I do not think these are statement equivalents. I think someone constantly pursuing "stylish" probably is pretty busy trying to figure out what "stylish" currently means, and buying those items. I think someone "well dressed" is usually happy with the style they have chose as being theirs.

We are all desperately trying to appear stylish in order to mask our deep insecurities and the utter shallowness of our sad little lives from the world.

What about those of us that want to be well dressed? I'm guessing even worse.

yeah because generally those are people who have a sense of purpose, and are successful in their own ways.

It's just something about looking good that makes you feel good. The opposite is also true.
