Lived here for the past 22 years. What would you like to know?

Not sure of your age bracket/demo, but are there any interesting dive-y bars/hangouts that are not too far form the strip, maybe not to touristy? Musical act a plus.

Still brainstorming about plans for the weekend, but looking for a decent low key / chilled out place to visit as part of the weekend.

I am a 27 year old professional.

Downtown Las Vegas (Fremont Street area) has experienced a resurrection of sorts and is full of the types of bars you may seek, such as Commonwealth, Downtown Cocktail Room, and Brass the lounge. These are mostly places only locals know of, so no need to worry about rowdy tourists.

Ferraro's is another very popular bar with live music most nights, it is located on Paradise across from the Hard Rock hotel.

Enjoy your trip.

Gotcha thanks. "Dr" and 22 years made me think you were probs old, since most people move after college.

^ as a local I've been there several times... unfortunately they were on the news recently, if I recall correctly, due to some food poisoning...

some of their tapas are great, dates with pancetta, octopus grilled, etc... oh and if you were constipated going in, well... that won't be a problem after you're done eating there...
