Yeah there is a degree of uncertainty, but you can save so much money... What do I have to do in order to cover myself from a mistake?

Two suggestions:

1. Try to try on the exact size and model at a bricks and mortar retail store
before you order. I realize that this is not always possible.

2.Make sure that the seller offers a full refund.. Style Forum affiliate eHaberdasher,
for example, does. SF affiliate Shop the Finest only offers store credit.

One piece of advice: Don't.

If you search here you will find the path littered with people complaining about garments that don't fit, despite measurements, and then struggling to get remakes.
