I posted a TLB Artista vs JL Instagram post crafted by a local retailer of the brand in their thread. Needless to say, they are very happy and said I should mention the price difference as well.

This kind of comparison posts, for obvious reasons, stir emotional responses. We AM supporters would defend our purchases here, and the Artista people would defend theirs there...

Just wonder whether they would ban me from posting if I posted TLB Artista vs new Aeris there - I remember a guy there asked whether Artista “uses bespoke grade leather” ?

I have TLB Artisa and AM Artisa and it’s not even close, the Artisa is higher quality and looks and feels superior. In fact I sold a pair of burgundy Artisa and got a pair of Argentums on clearance that Antonio recolored to a dark burgundy.

The Artisa is still a nice shoe. I also have a pair of TLB Chelsea boots from their regular line that I really enjoy. If Antonio had a sub $600 Chelsea boot, I’d get it in an instant.

Attached is a photo of TLB Artisa next to an Aeris Principes (which uses the new higher quality leather).

I have L&T as beater as well, I don’t have any AE, 5 last doesn’t work well for me and despite being narrow ish it looks no slicker...

oh and because my GG fit is mediocre at best (so don’t a lot wear) I have one lazyman from GG on MH71 as “beater” don’t kill me on that...

So @clee1982 uses both C&J and G&G as beaters. We know who is paying for the next several ?'s.

The 5 last was my first ever experience with both a high end shoe, and an American made shoe. Damn great shoe in its own right. Problem is with the enormous amount of information, rather high price point, and competition within its class it sort of gets brushed aside.

Artista is using bespoke grade leather? Direct me to that individual as I have a beautiful bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell him/her. It comes complete with top grade steel and wholly Handwelded.

If I got the sudden urge to get this pair as beater I would have it MTO/ resoled in Vibram dainite sole. The traction is so much better.

I still couldn’t understand why I chose that sole material (Vibram dainite) for my indigo Ilcea suede double monks back then, but it was incidentally a good choice.

does AM ever commando for example (too rugged?), dainite traction is pretty limited when it gets slippery

Vibram dainite (Italy) is *much* better then original Dainite dainite (UK). Basically they mimicked the look, but the plastic has totally different traction performance. I have a pair of Church’s boots on Dainite dainite, and I felt like walking in a rink each time I wear them in rainy weather.

AM does commando - I might have seen it once alongside his custom golf shoes in his old Aurum photos...

Does AM offer rubber sole like Wensum by G&G?
It seems it is not available for Argentum. What about Aurum?

Wensum rubber sole looks like the kind of rubber sole used by TLB Artista. I asked AM about it when TLB Artista boasted their slim, dressy rubber sole - as I also wanted one for my Argentum - he argued that his channelled rubber sole offers more protection for the sole stitching than that.

As for whether he can do it, um...
