I find it interesting that color/finish variations warrant a second pricing. These are hand dye/burnished shoes, to me color variation is what sets them apart from machine pumped out factory shoes.
At the end of the day people are proud of their "patina" so why the big deal over color variation?
Totally agree. My strand weaves were seconds for that reason. They looked perfect to me. Patina isn’t symmetric our identical for the right and left shoes

Happy Friday Fellas.

I felt like brown cords so Tan Stirlings. I need to pick up some gray chinos for the new black HM's I got. Otherwise I'll only wear them on weekends with jeans.

OG Dark Brown Sullivans again.

Rant: For the life of me, I can't understand why this wasn't a better seller for AE. There's really nothing else on the market like it--a true business casual Galway. Many of the other Galway-pattern field boots are a little too dressy for chinos, IMHO, and particularly those around AE's price point like Carlos Santos, Lof & Tung, etc. These 511s are not a perfect fit for my feet and have some decidedly weird creasing going on, but they stay in heavy rotation on bad-weather days because they're just so versatile. Only thing I have in my closet that's comparable is a C&J Coniston, but it (1) doesn't have the visual interest of the two-leather pattern and (2) costs at least twice as much.

Rant over. Hope this one comes back in some trunk shows in future. I'll buy.

I agree I like mine and would like them better on the 65, 201 or 97 but it's a nice boot. Mine also has some odd creases, must be the last or the leather.

Not the footwear I would have selected had I known that I would be three stories up on scaffolding. Not very suitable for climbing ladders

Happy Friday forum pals. Time to get serious about Christmas shopping if you have not done so already. My Christmas came early. I have previously confessed to jumping on a new pair of shoes and wear them immediately. As we say in the South, I would jump on them "Like a duck on a June bug." I told myself this time would be different. I now had whiskey LWBs that took years to find. I would "put them in the vault." I would be one of those guy we occasionally see who say, "Oh yeah, I have a pair of those somewhere in the closet. I haven't worn them yet but I will eventually pull them out and wear them." I admire those guys. Self control I never had. I would not jump on these grail shoes that arrived on Tuesday. People would admire me. So here they are. I am glad I made it this long. Mission accomplished.

A tribute to your self-control for sure. ;)

Cambridge. The shell has evolved pretty well over the past five years - burgundy, a very red brown, and sometimes almost ruby red in the right light - but they regrettably don't get out much. Despite the full brogue and dual oak sole, I always reach for something with open lacing since my outfits are almost all casual these days and it's a shame because this shoe is such a home run.

Counterpoint: I don't call that self control. I call that wasting valuable resources. What good does a pair of shoes do anyone collecting dust in a closet, never being worn? Wear them into the ground until you need to resole. Then resole and wear them into the ground again. Rinse Brush and repeat.

Those shoes are fine as frog's hair split four ways.

Preach on, Brother. A natural for the non-shell trunk show.
