I wonder if that means they dumped the 2648's into the seconds pool or if there is a mix of dark and light as firsts. I'm not sure where @polojock615 got his, but this could be an issue if you're expecting the light welt/edge as is pictured on the website.

The wax brown HM I saw at my local store had the dark welt. Did not see one with a buff welt, which is a better look imho

Yeah I would wear them with more casual fits anyway but I can't wrap my head around it. Right now it's subtle but when the lugs get dirty etc. Also a chunkier shoe than the JR would be.

I considered the MacLennan before, but I think the shape just didn't work for black tie so well.

I've been wondering how this even happened. Seems so strange that they would make it with a sole that most of us didn't know was available. Did anyone else try to order with this type of clear lug sole?

I actually think they look quite fine with the clear lug, which tend to blend in a bit with many surfaces while wearing. They don't dirty like crepe soles, either. I'm not suggesting you keep them since it isn't what you ordered, but it isn't the craziest looking combo. I wouldn't want them for the wear characteristics discussed on this board before, but at 2nds pricing, would be a no-brainer.
