I am selling a pair of Alden opera pumps, dated by Alden to be from the 1930's or early 40's, size 8.5B. Rarely for opera pumps, they are welted construction. They are in good general condition and absolutely remarkable condition for their age. The leather shows creasing consistent with being worn. The soles show minimal wear; much of the black dye is still intact. The light whirls spur imagination of dancing at the finest formal functions through their history! A small portion of lining has come apart near the heal (shown in photo). Not owning a tuxedo, I have little reason to own such shoes outside a fascination with the history they represent. The sole dimensions are 11 1/2'' and 3 3/4''. I would like to sell them so they may be enjoyed at the events for which they were made and am asking $400.00. I cannot accept returns but am happy to field questions on fit. Shipping will be paid for by the buyer and carrier is their decision.
