C&J are not comparable to EG or JL. I agree with you there, but C&Js are definitely better than Aldens. My point is that C&J, EG, & JL are better than Aldens. For me, most of the Alden designs feel like stepping back in time to the 1940s. Shoes for senior citizens - very dated.

There are quite a few on the forum who would say that Alden ~ AE IMO.

It's hideous. On the boot it looks like the laces have metastasized. Alden makes much better looking shoes than these.

I have to say I am investigating these shoes and think they are very good looking. They would seem to go well with an outdoor look such as a Boy Scout uniform (when not in the field) or with jeans. Not for business . . . they would make a good choice when you don't want a boot.
