AE color mixing?

Hi all,

I'm returning to the workplace and need some help saving $$ where possible. I'm getting 2 pair of AE shoes, black and cognac calf. They make a reversible belt in black and walnut; will the walnut belt "work" with cognac shoes? Also, I've inherited some very nice cuff links I'd like to wear, however a jacket is not appropriate for for the kind of work I'll be doing. Can I wear the links without a jacket? Thanks for any help.

Having never seen them in person, the Walnut looks similar enough to the Cognac online to be an acceptable pairing.

I wear links without a jacket. Some SFers disapprove, but it doesn't seem to be a major faux pas.

Some men prefer to match belt & shoe color while others prefer to have the belt color compliment the shoes without matching the color. I do both, and would have no problem doing a walnut belt with cognac shoes, as long as the 2 items are complimenting one another. It would be nice to see pics of the belt & shoes you are matching.

Matching your belt to the shoes is nice, but there's no problem with them being close. Some might even say that having exact matches (aside from black) is a bit try hard. If you happen to have a matching belt, then by all means go ahead and use it. But you don't necessarily have to go out of your way to match them. Walnut and Cognac will be just fine.
