Is it possible to take a finished wholecut shoe and have a cobbler punch holes to add a medallion?

Can anyone recommend a master cobbler to do this? I am getting these done to a Carmina Shell Wholecut. The medallion addition must be PERFECT.

Thought so. I can imagine it's very difficult to place a good and even medallion pattern on a curved toe cap, compared to when its just a flat, unclicked piece of leather.

Can anyone add to either consensus?

Not doable. Do you want a poorly punched ghillie? Think about...if a cobbler were to do this, they would need to have the original last as a backer in order to have any chance of punching the medallion nicely. Then they would have to glue a backing piece of leather in the toe box area potentially making it too tight or just plain uncomfortable. It will not be perfect as you require.

too many things can go wrong. Just appreciate the simple refinement of the unmolested toe of your wholecuts

I used to make holes in my belts with a hot nail. You can try this, but don't hold the nail in your hand (use pliers) or it will be hard to attain the desired level of refinement.

I think you're less likely to damage the shoe if you hold it in your hand.
