It's a question of proportions IMO. I can understand a 3" tie on a 38" chest guy, but I think it looks silly on a 44" guy. Conversely, a 4" tie looks silly on a skinny guy.

Eustace Tilley, Perhaps I made a typo in an email, most gentlemen order 3.75 inch widths from us. Sorry for any confusion.
